AmeriCorps

Some of you may already know what AmeriCorps has to offer non-profits and some of you may have done a year of service like I have, but I think the program is worth sharing here. There are several types of AmeriCorps programs - the basic idea is that the Corporation for National & Community Service provides grants to organziations who then use that money to support one or more service members who work with the organization for a year. In essence, what you're getting is a "free" staff member for a special project. Often service members are utlitized as recruiters and leaders of volunteers.
