(Note: I found this foundation on the US Department of Housing and Urban Development web page listed as a weekly funding opportunity. Unfortunately, the date was from 2007. When I located the current Janus Foundation web site, they state that they are not currently awarding any grants. I could not find any information that said if this was temporary or a change in policy. However, when I read the information listed below, I would definitely contact them if my funding priority matched theirs to see if there would be a future opportunity.)
Program Areas: The Janus Foundation provides cash grants to qualified nonprofit organizations for innovative programs that fall into one of two national funding categories: at-risk youth through education, and community service and volunteerism.
Targeted Areas: National.
Eligibility: The Janus Foundation makes grants to organizations with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) 501(c)(3) tax–exempt nonprofit status. The foundation prefers to support specific programs rather than general operating funds and campaigns. Applicants should have clearly defined goals and anticipated outcomes and be able to demonstrate the success of their programs through quantitative and qualitative evaluations.
Grants will be made to organizations and programs that are considered innovative and visionary and that have a long-lasting impact, ultimately leading their constituents to self-sufficiency. They should provide unique services and have strong partnerships with other nonprofit organizations in order to provide comprehensive services to their constituents. The Janus Foundation is interested in establishing partnerships with nonprofits that play a strong leadership role in the community and make a crucial difference in providing solutions to community needs.
Award Amounts: Award amounts average $7,600.
Application Process: Download the foundation’s Grant Guidelines and Application Process document. The following items must be included in your grant proposal for it to be considered for funding. Please use this checklist to ensure that your proposal is complete. The narrative portion of the proposal should not exceed eight written pages. Applications must provide The Janus Foundation with a clear and concise snapshot of its program, its components, and the impact it has on your constitutions. Each application must succinctly state:

All grant recipients will receive a grant agreement that must be signed and returned prior to the disbursement of any funds. All organizations receiving a grant from The Janus Foundation MUST submit a formal evaluation of any funded programs as a condition of funding. The evaluation must be received by the foundation prior to any request for additional funding. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility to receive future funding from The Janus Foundation and may result in a request for reimbursement of any or all grant monies
Deadline: Grant applications are reviewed on a monthly basis, so there is no deadline for submission. The Janus Foundation will respond to all grant applications in writing within 90 days of receipt of the application. Due to the number of inquiries and grant application received each month, the foundation asks that you do not contact them to follow up on your application unless you do not receive a written response within 90 days of your submission.
