The Boston Foundation

The Boston Foundation is Greater Boston’s community foundation.  According to TBF's website (http://www.tbf.org), the organization's principle activities include:

  • Making grants to nonprofit organizations and designing special funding initiatives to address this community’s critical challenges;
  • Working in partnership with donors and other funders to achieve high-impact philanthropy; and
  • Serving as a civic hub and center of information, where ideas are shared, levers for change are identified, and common agendas for the future are developed.
In September of 2009, the Boston Foundation implemented a new set of goals and objectives that place a strategic focus on the people and places of Greater Boston. TBF prioritizes dramatic improvements in education and wellness; safe and vibrant neighborhoods; robust arts and cultural opportunities; and a regional economy that enables everyone to thrive.

Interested grant seekers are encouraged to attend a regularly offered information session before submitting a letter of inquiry.  TBF offers several grant opportunities, and deadlines vary.
