The New Balance Foundation
According to its mission, The New Balance Foundation (http://www.newbalancefoundation.org/index.htm) works to, "support charitable organizations whose humanitarian efforts work for the betterment of our children and communities with a principal focus on promoting healthy lifestyles while working towards the prevention of childhood obesity... The Foundation is committed to supporting grassroots children's initiatives in the communities in which New Balance operates facilities."
Although its core focus is childhood obesity prevention, the Foundation also contributes to other programs that target underserved youth, and secondary program areas include Education and Athletics, Health and Human Services, Arts and Culture, and the Environment. The Foundation also responds to worldwide Disaster Relief efforts as needed.
The New Balance Foundations supports nonprofits in the New England communities in which it operates facilities. These areas include Boston and Lawrence, MA, and Norridgewock, Skowhegan, and Norway, ME.
Applications are due in June, and application guidelines can be found here.
The New Balance Foundation is led by a husband and wife team, Jim and Anne Davis, and is supported by a small staff responsible for its daily operations. It is also governed by a board of trustees.
