Pacific Power Foundation (Oregon, Central/Southeastern Washington State, Northern California)
The Pacific Power Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Pacific Power. Its mission, through charitable investments, is to support the growth and vitality of its communities. The Pacific Power Foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations in the categories of education; civic and community betterment; culture and arts; and health, welfare and social services. Organizations and activities eligible for Foundation support include: (1) Educational and research institutions, both public and private, from early childhood through university level; (2) Youth organizations; (3) Cultural enrichment organizations dedicated to the performing arts, the visual arts, historic preservation, cross-cultural education and other such activities; (4) Health and human services organizations including chemical dependency treatment and prevention programs, senior citizen centers, runaway youth services and domestic violence treatment and prevention programs; and (5) Projects that have a bearing on communities that are served by Pacific Power -- Oregon, Central/Southeastern Washington and Northern California.
History of Funding:
During the second quarter of 2009, the Pacific Power Foundation awarded more than $200,990 to 37 communities in Oregon, California and Washington.
The Foundation manages its grants in four cycles. This helps the Foundation carefully review similar requests to ensure maximum benefit. (1) Education organizations (proposals due March 15); (2) Civic, community and organizations not covered in other categories (due June 15); (3) Culture and arts organizations (due September 15); (4) Health, welfare and social service organizations (due December 15).
